In Cairo this week, the Cathedral of All Saints, Zamalek, hosted a special concert by the American University in Cairo, celebrating the birth of Christ through music. We give thanks for the witness of Archbishop Dr Sami Shehata, a member of the Gafcon Primates’ Council, whose presence highlighted the enduring Christian testimony of the Episcopal Church in Egypt and the wider Middle East.
The concert featured music by George Frideric Handel, including themes from Messiah, the beloved oratorio that proclaims the life, suffering, and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. First performed in 1742, Messiah continues to echo across cultures and generations with its clear gospel message.
We thank God for faithful leadership, creative expression, and the joyful proclamation of Christ through word, song, and shared celebration across the global Anglican Communion.
