We pray for The Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean, established in 1973, and encompassing Madagascar, Mauritius and the Seychelles. It comprises eight dioceses, six in Madagascar plus one each in Mauritius and the Seychelles, ministering through episcopal structures, theological training, schools, clinics, and community development.
In December last year, the Rt. Rev’d Gilbert Rateloson Rakotondravelo, Bishop of Fianarantsoa since 2003, was enthroned as Archbishop and Primate of the Province, leading the mission in evangelism, social justice, and unity among culturally diverse island nations. He succeeds former Primate, Archbishop James Wong (pictured), who continues as Advisor to the Gafcon Primates Council.
The province continues fostering theological education, interfaith dialogue, and grassroots evangelism while serving the needs of their island communities.
