We give thanks to God for the recent seminar run by the Gafcon Theological Educators Network, where 34 educators from ten different nations met to discuss personal formation in theological education.
The two main presentations were from educators in Uganda and Nigeria, and they affirmed the fundamental importance of personal and spiritual development for theological students.
The online participants shared experiences and challenges related to how that personal formation is encouraged within college programmes, and the importance of faculty/student interaction was emphasised, both inside and outside the classroom.
The conversation also considered the challenges for formation that come with institutional growth and online learning, and they discussed how to assess personal growth in students.
