Today we give thanks to God for the Martyrs’ Day Statement of 16 October last year, a clear and prayerful declaration issued by the Gafcon Primates’ Council at a decisive moment in the life of the Anglican Communion. On this historic day, the Primates affirmed that faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ must come before institutional preservation, cultural pressure, or worldly approval.
We also give thanks for the upcoming G26 Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, where the Global Anglican Communion will gather together for the first time since this statement was issued. We pray that this gathering will be marked by humility, unity, and courage as we seek to guard God’s gospel and obey the Lord’s will for the future.
May God strengthen and unite us to bear faithful witness to Christ in every nation, for his glory alone.
