Today we give thanks to God for the faithful witness of Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley, who were martyred in Oxford on 16 October 1555 for their bold confession of Christ. Standing firmly on the authority of Scripture, they proclaimed the sufficiency of Jesus’ once-for-all sacrifice on the cross.
Their courage and steadfast faith lit a gospel flame that still burns brightly today. As a global Gafcon family, we are inspired by their example to Guard God’s gospel through the faithful proclamation of God’s Word.
Let us pray for courage to stand firm for the gospel in our own day, trusting in Christ’s love and the power of his Spirit to sustain us.
