Today, as we enter the holy season of Lent, we hear again the words of the Ash Wednesday collect: “Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made, and forgive the sins of all who are penitent.” This is our confidence as we prepare for G26: that the Lord who calls us to repentance is also the God of all mercy.
We pray that he would “create and make in us new and contrite hearts,” that we may worthily lament our sins and acknowledge our wretchedness. Renewal in the Anglican Communion must begin on our knees.
As we seek repentance and reform, may we obtain from him “perfect remission and forgiveness,” and walk together in faithfulness for the glory of God.
