Rejoicing in the Investiture of Archbishop Steve Wood

Gafcon rejoices in tonight’s investiture at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina of Archbishop Steve Wood as Primate of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), and prays for God’s blessings upon him as he leads this Province in proclaiming Christ faithfully.

The ACNA was established by Gafcon as a province in 2009, and we have delighted in the wise leadership in our global movement by Archbishops Bob Duncan, Foley Beach, and now Steve Wood.

In this week’s Global Anglican Podcast, Archbishop Steve shared his thankfulness for the, “sense of confidence that Gafcon leadership brought to the North American church,” especially at a time when orthodox Anglicans were, “struggling with a church that seemed to be embarrassed about Jesus.”

For Archbishop Steve, the friendships and partnerships that have grown between the ACNA and Gafcon dioceses have been, “life giving and generative, and have produced life all across the community,” for, “every Gafcon province has been blessed by their participation in Gafcon.”

This rich fellowship was expressed by the participation in tonight’s service by Gafcon primates and leaders from around the world.

Join us in praying for Archbishop Steve and all the Gafcon primates as they exercise orthodox leadership in their global provinces.

Please also pray for Gafcon as we unite Anglicans globally, providing ongoing leadership and support for churches so that together we might proclaim Christ faithfully.
