As part of the first GAFCON gathering in Jerusalem in 2008, a group of theological educators met to discuss a Biblical approach to Theological Education. In the first of three sessions, Rev. César Guzmán, formerly the Director of Chile’s Centre for Pastoral Studies, explains how theological education must never be isolated from the life of the Church and its mission to the world. He particularly notes the role of the local church in theological education and the need for pastors and teachers to be trained to be both faithful and clear when teaching and preaching God’s word.
